dAudio

Privacy Policy

How dAudio handles your data — the short version is, almost none of it leaves your device.

In plain terms: dAudio is an offline music player. It plays the audio files already on your device, collects no personal information, and requires no account. There are no ads, no analytics, and no third-party trackers. The one exception is voice search: if you choose to use it, your spoken query may be sent to your device's speech recognition service (typically provided by Google) to be transcribed into text. That only happens when you actively tap the microphone — see "Permissions we request" below for exactly how it works.

Who this applies to

This policy covers the dAudio Android application, published by DS Webhosting Services ("we", "us", "our"). It explains what the app does and does not do with your information.

Information we collect

We do not collect any personal information. dAudio has no user accounts, no sign-in, and no registration. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, or location, and we have no servers that receive data from the app.

Access to files on your device

To do its job, dAudio needs to read the audio files on your device. When you choose a music folder, the app reads:

  • Audio files (such as MP3 and FLAC) in the folder you select;
  • The metadata embedded in those files — track titles, artist and album names, and cover artwork;
  • The folder location you chose, so the app can find your music again next time.

All of this stays on your device. dAudio reads your files only to build your music library and play your music. It does not copy, upload, transmit, or share your files or their contents with us or with anyone else.

Permissions we request

dAudio requests only the permissions it needs to function:

  • Storage / media access — to read the audio files you ask it to play.
  • Microphone — only requested if you use voice search, and only at the moment you tap the microphone button. dAudio prefers on-device speech recognition where your device supports it, but this isn't guaranteed by the operating system. When an on-device option isn't available, your spoken query is sent over the network to your device's default speech recognition service — typically provided by Google — purely to transcribe it into text, under Google's own privacy policy. dAudio itself does not record, store, or retain your voice at any point. If you'd rather avoid this entirely, typed search is always available as a full alternative, and the microphone option simply won't appear on a device where voice recognition isn't available at all.

If you choose not to grant a permission, the related feature simply won't be available — the rest of the app continues to work.

Analytics, ads, and third parties

dAudio does not include advertising, analytics, or tracking SDKs of any kind. The one exception is voice search, described above: when you actively choose to use it, your spoken query may be processed by your device's speech recognition service (typically Google) for that single request only. No other feature in dAudio shares data with any third party.

Data retention and deletion

dAudio doesn't operate any servers and stores nothing about you outside your own device. The only data the app keeps is a local cache of your music library — track names, artists, albums, and artwork — built from the folder you select, stored entirely on your device so it doesn't need to rescan your files every time you open the app. You can clear this at any time from Settings, or remove it completely by uninstalling the app.

Children's privacy

dAudio does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. It is a simple offline utility suitable for general audiences.

Changes to this policy

If the app's functionality changes in a way that affects this policy, we will update this page and revise the date below. Continued use of the app after an update constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
